Jine Dine Inspired Crayon Resist

Jim Dine is one of the go-to artists in Art Education these days, with good reason. His body of work is so simple and elegant. It translates well to inspired projects for students. I don't like that lessons inspired by his artwork are only brought out around Valentine's Day (even though I'm doing exactly that) because he is so much more than hearts. His series of heart paintings and sculptures are beautiful but have you seen his robe series? The robes are what won me as a fan.

If you do need a quick one day lesson that can be brought out around Valentine's Day, this is for you. Students can learn about Jim Dine and crayon resists at the same time. Wunderbar! Throw in some warm and cool color action, you've got a great little project. You will need: crayons, black watercolor, and a paper towel.
