Watercolor Palettes

When it comes to watercolors, what do you find yourself using most often? I have an eclectic mix of watercolors and tempera cakes at my disposal. When I make personal art I use whatever's on hand. For my kiddos at school I choose Prang because the colors are richer, deeper, and more opaque than Crayola. It's also super convenient being able to pop an empty pan out and replace it with a fresh one. I plan on incorporating the Faber-Castell (red) set pictured below into my classroom. They feel like a cross between traditional pan watercolors and tempera cakes. Plus they're removable which means replaceable. Bonus!

Here's what I'm workin' with at home: [clockwise from top right] assorted Van Gogh and Grumbacher liquids/ Faber-Castell 12 color set/ Winsor Newton Cotman Field Plus set (minus one lost to a trans-Atlantic flight)/ Yarka semi-moist watercolors.

I love looking through watercolor artist's photos on Instagram and seeing what palettes they use for their work.

Do you have a go-to set or are you more like me?
