Winter Landscapes

We spend a good deal of the Fall semester working with color families in PreK art. I take a little break during our space unit so that we can really focus on curricular content. Then if time allows, and we have no real snow days, I bring us back to cool colors for a winter landscape project. A class period is used to paint the background and tree papers. On our next meeting we make trees, trunks, and a cold snowy ground. With the variety of brushstrokes, tree shapes, and paper colors we end up with a lovely spread of wintery landscapes. They enjoy a short time on the bulletin boards because soon we’re ready for some spring like weather and temps!
