Florence Friday v19

Movies about anthropomorphic animals were HUGE in the 80s and early 90s. Sure, it could be said that that statement holds true today, but it felt like most of the movies of our childhood were based around animals or unrealistic creatures- An American Tail, Oliver and Company, All Dogs Go To Heaven, E.T., Dark Crystal, The Land Before Time, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Secret of Nim, The Last Unicorn, The Little Mermaid, The Great Mouse Detective, The Fox and the Hound, Harry and the Hendersons, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Milo and Otis, Totoro... I mean, this could go on all day. ALL DAY!

The Rescuers Down Under was released in 1990 (hello Kindergarten) and of course there was a tie in with the golden arches. McDonald's has released ornament collections periodically over the past thirty years- remember the nuggets?! This particular set included Bernard and Bianca from The Rescuers Down Under. Bernard is a flocked (a.k.a. fuzzy) plastic ornament and is in adorable condition. The hubs seems to recall having the same ornament hanging on his tree as a child. Grandma may not have had the pair, but I'm happy to just have cute Bernard.

Here are the movie-based ornaments a quick Google search yielded:
+ Flounder/Sebastian Little Mermaid, 1989
+ Oliver/Dodger Oliver and Company, 1988
+ Gus Gus/Jacques Cinderella, 1987
+ Fievel Christmas Stocking, An American Tale, 1986

Do you have any of these on your tree? Do you remember them from your childhood? Happy weekend!
