Florence Friday v8

A few weeks ago I shared a beautiful photo of an old Eberhard Faber marker box. This week I want to show you the inside. The inside itself is not beautiful but it held three similar-era markers, two of which are MARKette thinrite markers. Grandma, you amaze me!

The last marker is a blue Kurbro marker that is local to the PIttsburgh area, which I just love. I have great affection for my out-of-country made products but this is just a great example of what local economies were like fifty years ago. They were local, on every level. Pittsburgh markers? It's a true rarity.

Kurbro, short for Kurtz Brothers, has operated as a school supplier in the PIttsburgh area since 1894. They still manufacture their own products but there's little information about their history on their website.
