Florence Friday v5

The reason my grandmother had these spools is unknown but who cares! Look at them, they are gorgeous! The spools reflect light and shine brightly like little gems. I did a little internet research and wasn't able to find much. I.B. Silk Co. formed in June of 1961 in New York, New York. The company was located at 315 W. 36th St which is a stone's throw from Penn Station and just a few blocks west of Bryant Park. I.B. Silk Co, Inc. operated for just over 20 years, dissolving June 24, 1981. As with most of the good stuff that's come from my Grandmother's house, I believe these spools are more likely from the earlier era of the company and not the later years. Does anyone know much about wooden spools? I'd love to know more.

They've been sitting in a jar for a couple of years. Maybe I should actually learn to embroider and decorate something with the silky thread. I'll just add it to my growing list of things to do.
